Screen Actors Guild Awards - The Men

Prada, Gucci, Burberry... the men are just as much about designer stuff on the red rug as the women. And they wore the labels well.

Andrew Garfield wore Burberry, love his shoes, very unusual for the red carpet. James Franco wore Gucci again and smiled a lot again.

John Krasinski (in Prada) didn't wear a white shirt! I love the all dark look he sported, very handsome. Matthew Morrison too went with Prada - he ditched the white shirt and the tie! How rebellious.

Screen Actors Guild Awards - Black Gowns

Black was back in small numbers.

Amber Riley wore an Anne Barge gown with a one-shoul
der and a ruffle hemline. She made a statement with her bright pink lipstick too! January Jones' gold print Carolina Herrera wasn't my favourite, it looked too busy. Kyra Sedgwick kept things conventional by choosing to wear a black velvet gown by Thierry Mugler.

Screen Actors Guild Awards - Seeing Red

Red made an unexpected comeback this year's SAGs... I'm not complaining! It's certainly a break from the nude/pink trend that has taken over the red carpet this year. *Click on the images for a clearer look

Julianna Marguiles of the The Goo
d Wife (for which she won the Best Actress on TV award), looked beautiful in a strapless red Yves Saint Laurent gown, I love the earrings too! I'm in love with Mila Kunis' entire look! Her printed gown by Alexander McQueen from the Resort 2011 collection broke all the rules and did I mention how much I love her McQueen skull clutch?! Tina Fey wore colour and granted me my wish to see her in something other than black or navy. The Oscar de la Renta gown looked stunning on her and those diamond leaf earrings were gorgeous.

Screen Actors Guild Awards - The Nude/Pink Trend

Pink & nude shades were in abundance once again. *Click on the images for a clearer look

Hilary Swank walked the red carpet in a nude one-shoulder Versace gown, I really like this gown on her. I also like the gold VBH clutch she's carrying, it matches perfectly with the beaded details of the dress. Jayma Mays looked tons better than her Golden Globes appearance! Thank goodness she kept her make-up natural too, the gothy eyes totally do not suit her. Anyway, lovin' her pink Jenny Packham gown with an asymmetrical hemline, she's wearing silver Jimmy Choos. Jenna Ushkowitz looked lovely in a nude Badgley Mischka gown - the heavy gold statement necklace looks great with the dress.

My fashion favourite Lea Michele wore a sparkly pale gown by who else? Oscar de la Renta! The waist-cinching gold belt looks great and adds an edge to the look, also love her tousled waves! Heather Morris' Ramona Keveza gown looked good on her, it's all floaty and soft but I wish she would break away from the nude trend now! She wore a similar shade at the Golden Globes too.

Screen Actors Guild Awards - The Blues

Blue was also a trending colour of the night, in various shades.

Kim Kar
dashian's dress isn't blue but it's in the same family. Her one-shoulder Marchesa gown in a deep purple looked lovely! She smartly layed off tons of make up, opting for a natural lip colour and bronzer. She's also fake tan-free! Claire Danes shook things up by wearing this printed floral Louis Vuitton dress. It sure is a different look than her usual minimalistic choices but she looks great.

Nicole Kidman wore a dark navy Nina Ricci gown, it fit her well but I wish Nicole would wear colour on the red carpet again! Getting bored of these snooze-worthy choices now. I might be in the minority here but I didn't like Dianna Agron's look. The dress was a vintage Chanel and I think it would have suited someone like Carey Mulligan more. I also had shoe issues! Those black Ferregamo pumps are so unsightly and chunky. The smoky eyes didn't work for me either, sorry Dianna!

Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order: SVU wore a bright indigo strapless gown by Isaac Mizrahi and added some interesting jewelery, love those turquoise earrings. Julia Stiles wore an ombré effect dress by Monique Lhuillier, simple but striking.

Screen Actors Guild Awards - The White Trend

The Screen Actors Guild Awards took place in Hollywood last night, and the glitterati of the movies were dressed up to the nines. *Click on the images for a clearer look

Here's one of the strong trends of the night, in terms of fashion. White and pale grey gowns were very popular.
Amy Adams wore a sleek Hervé Leroux gown in white - loved her entire look! Eva Longoria wore a pale eggshell coloured gown by Georges Hobeika, and despite the low cut neckline, she looked very elegant. Best Actress winner Natalie Portman wore a white Azzaro gown with reportedly $2 million worth of Tiffany & Co jewelery!

Naya Rivera of Glee wore a pale grey slinky gown by Aurelio Costarella, love the way she kept things minimal. Winona Ryder's Alberta Ferretti gown looked very bridal and I'm not a fan of the tacky looking black purse she's carrying. Better posing and a simple clutch would have done wonders for her look!

Filmfare Awards - Hits

One can (almost) never go wrong wearing a saree, it's naturally elegant and looks great on any body type. Cases in point: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Preity Zinta and Dia Mirza. Both Aishwarya and Preity opted for Manish Malhotra designs... the man can do subtle! (sort of). Aishwarya looked heavenly in a sparkly white saree while Preity wore red and looked radiant in it! Dia's was a lacy black Gaurav Gupta couture creation and she looked rather statuesque wearing it.

Sonakshi Sinha's chiffon gown in a lime green hue stood out and made a statement; the silver clutch worked nicely with it too. I loved Amrita Puri's look from head to toe! The retro hair and red lipstick look fabulous and her gown fit her impeccably!

Malaika Arora Khan wore a white and gold Monisha Jaisingh couture gown and looked lovely. She enhanced the gold details of the dress with some gold earrings and finished the look off with a dark gold clutch and nude Sergio Rossis. Prachi Desai pleasantly surprised me by donning this pale pink Neeta Lulla gown, it looked wonderful on her and I love her messy side-braid too.

Filmfare Awards - Misses

Another night, another awards event. Here are a few of the misses according to me, although in all fairness, some are only here because of some aspect of their look not working. I wish there was a proper red carpet here... instead, the celebrities are posing in a horrible grey parking lot space! Appalling, really.

First, let me get the
Manish Malhotra tragedies out of the way. Both Katrina Kaif & 90's actress Urmila Matondkar wore the designer's creations. OTT is the only phrase that springs to mind. Oh another one - eye sore.

Genelia D'Souza wore a blue Versace dress with black gladiator style heels but what killed the look was the bad makeup and hair, something sleeker was needed here! Neha Dhupia wore a silk navy dress and while I liked the concept of the look, the fabric of the dress bordered on looking tacky and the bouffant was kind of uneccesary.

Fashion Roundup

*Click on the images for a clearer look.

Heidi Klum looked wonderful at an event in Germany, she wore a blue
Rachel Roy sheath which she paired with some chunky nude heels. Chanel darling Diane Kruger was seen in a fresh-of-the-runway frock in a baby pink colour; I'm loving the construction of the dress, it's fun yet elegant. Kerry Washington went for a Hervé Leger creation in a pale peach shade, she looks really great in it.

Olivia Wilde took in the Armani Privé show at the Paris Fashion Week and wore a low cut sparkly number from the label. Once again, no flaws to be found! Jessica Alba exited the Gucci store in Paris wearing this flirty floral skirt which she paired with some seriously fierce black booties. Thandie Newton looked all cool and collected in an aqua print Jonathan Saunders dress, the black Lulu Guinness lips clutch and white peeptoes really enhance the look.
Reese Witherspoon, while at an Avon event wore this lovely Jason Wu dress, it looks great on her and the colour is refreshing. Whitney Port wore this vintage Thierry Mugler dress at a L'Oreal event in NYC. Her shiny locks and the shiny pailletes on this dress make for a fab combo. Kim Kardashian's casual look was beautiful! I loved how she played with tan, gold and neutral shades without looking like an eye-sore... also, she seems to be make-up free! Hallelujah!

Winter Wrap

Here are some of my recent favourite winter looks.

Kate Hudson was in London and wore a leather skirt with black
Casadeis and topped them with this interesting Burberry coat. Jessica Alba, while in Paris went with an all black coat, under which she wore some tough looking boots.

Gwyneth Paltrow, spotted in NYC wore a military-inspired navy Burberry coat, love how she also wore some edgy black jeans and dove grey boots. A softer touch was added in the form of her powder blue scarf. Keira Knightley also wore Burberry, in the form of a gorgeous camel coloured shearling coat. Demi Moore mixed & matched patterns with her scarf and checkered coat and carried a bright purple Tod's tote.

Here & There

Demi Moore wore a Victoria Beckham design at a Sundance event; the design is trying to be all futuristic, a la Armani Privé but it just isn't happening. The pointy boots do nothing for the look either, so all in all, this gets a thumbs down from me. Heidi Klum was in London for the Instyle party and wore this fun black mini by Marchesa. She looked amazing!

Olivia Wilde was at a Gucci event at Paris Fashion Week and wore this crazy colour block jumpsuit by the label. I'm loving the colours here, peacock green, teal, rich purple, gold...! Okay, so the hair looks a little plain but that's about the only 'flaw' I can find here. Mischa Barton looked decent in a long time. She wore this 50's style frock with black tights and sparkly booties at a movie event in Russia (surprising location much).

White Tales

Kate Bosworth wore Dolce & Gabbana to an event at Sundance Film Festival. I'm not a fan. The white doily fabric, laden with floral appliques just screams grandma's curtains! The belt cannot salvage this look.

Reese Witherspoon on the other hand, shined in a white dress by the french label, Giambattista Valli & wore black Louboutins. Reese always owns the look in white, I think it's the blonde hair that makes the colour look so great on her. But whatever the reason, white is definitely Reese's colour.

Dinner with Gucci

Gucci celebrated Paris Fashion Week with a dinner at the Italian Embassy in Paris. In attendance: Diane Kruger, Brit actress Gemma Arterton and Jessica Alba. *Click on the image for a clearer look

All wore Gucci. I adore Diane's dress, it's very futuristic and edgy and she wore it so well. Gemma went for a good ol' nude dress, but the details of the dress make it look great. Jessica Alba looked fabulous in the sparkly grey dress, she kept things simple by not wearing any bling and going for simple blush coloured heels.

A Chanel Moment

Paris Fashion Week is in full swing! Yesterday, the Chanel Haute Couture show (S/S 2011) took place and here are some of the stylish attendees! Bear in mind, all the mentioned names are decked out in Chanel! (I mean, one wouldn't wear Armani to a Chanel show).

Kirsten Dunst invoked old school glamour in her navy avatar, the old Hollywood hair and red lippy make the look that much more elegant! Diane Kruger wore a tan shift with gold embellishments (possibly from the Chanel Resort collection) and as always, nailed it.

Alexa Chung wore a black & white (again, very appropriate for Chanel) dress with a chic bow collar and towered in black high heels. Vanessa Paradis (Johnny Depp's partner) dressed casually, quite surprisingly. She wore loose fitting jeans with a black Chanel jacket, a furry scarf and carried the classic mini Chanel quilted purse in red. I kinda love her laid back style! It sure made a statement.

Reception Style

A wedding reception took place last night in Mumbai, and tons of celebrities were seen.

Amrita Arora's look was a huge miss. The hair was
crazy, crazy, crazy. I'm not liking the swirly patterned saree much either.

Rani Mukherjee, went back to her Bengali roots and opte
d for a lehenga in white, with red and silver additions. I half liked this look, she certainly stood out and the design looks very pretty on her. However, I wish her make up would have been fresher, her face looks super tired and the hair looks limp.

Not many people would good in an ombré saree in the hues of deep red and orange, but Shilpa Shetty did just that... look good that is. I really like the unique colour combination of this saree and Shilpa looks very stylish wearing it.

Juhi Chawla's gold
lehenga was an instant favourite of mine, it's elegant and very appropriate considering the scale of the event.

Karisma Kapoor wore an ombré pale pink outfit with silver embellishments. Karisma always looks very put together and elegant and this look was no exception.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan went with pink too and I must say, I much prefer this simple look than those horrid
Manish Malhotra sarees/anarkalis that she has been sporting for a while.

Of Black & White

A lot of movie events saw a slew of black and white dresses at the weekend. And it goes to show once again, that you can never go wrong with a Little Black Dress.

Amy Adams wore a long sleeved, bejeweled dress with black peeptoes, this design with the power shoulders would have been boring on someone like Kim Kardashian but on Amy it was a welcome surprise. Mandy Moore was in London, for the premiere of the animated flick
"Tangled" - she wore a simple strapless LBD but punched up the look with an ornate necklace and bright red satin Charlotte Olympia pumps.

*Up
date - Mandy Moore's dress is from Paul Ka, Amy is in Andrew Gn.

Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly were at the NYC premiere of their movie "The Roommate". And Leighton totally rocked this dramatic gown with the leather top & cutouts by Michael Kors, love everything about her look. Co-star Minka Kelly went opposite, by wearing a soft, pale hued dress and adding beige heels to complete the look; lovin' her fishtail braid too.

PS. Anyone notice
d how similar Minka & Leighton look?! Could be twins. Just sayin'.

Kate Bosworth wore a surprisingly similar dress as Leighton at the ongoing Sundance Film Festival in cold Utah. The dress is by Chloé and her shoes are by Isabel Marant, sure the tights would normally look unecessary with this dress but I can't blame Kate for wearing them! It's always freeeezing at Sundance so she just came prepared! The lovely Emily Blunt was in Hollywood for her new film, called "Gnomeo & Juliet" (animation movie). She looked very elegant in a white Zac Posen number, worn with nude peeptoes.

MAC Night

Few celebs were out at the MAC bash (thrown by well known Bollywood make up artist, Mickey Contractor) but here are my favourites: Deepika Padukone looked great in a one shoulder LBD, although too bad that the way she's posing makes it almost impossible to see the full other sleeve. Nevertheless, I love her look, from the accessories to the matte red lip, well done.

Newly weds, Imran Khan and Avantika looked rather good - sure, Imran's cardi type thing could be viewed as almost casual, but it's a refreshing change from tired shiny jackets. Avantika stood out in her little yellow dress from the Lanvin for H&M collection, the dress looks super cute on her.

Fashion Roundup

Malin Akerman was seen at the Golden Globes After Party, wearing a sleek red Tommy Hilfiger design, Natalie Portman wore an electric blue Michael Kors dress with black pumps and matching purse and Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted at an event in Switzerland wearing a light pink Azzadine Alaia knee-skimming dress with cute pink peeptoes from Pierre Hardy.
Hayden Panettiere's navy blue Amanda Wakely gown with a plunging neckline was a grown up look for her but I don't think she quite pulled it off. Rumer Willis looked good in a cream coloured Badgley Mischka gown, I liked the delicate necklace she wore too. Olivia Munn attended a photo exhibit wearing a dark blue chiffon mini dress by Mason, she made the look her own by adding a thick belt to cinch at the waist and suede Elizabeth and James open-toe booties.
Model Bar Rafaeli looked polished in a ruched black top with wide legged black trousers at the Berlin Fashion week. Kourtney Kardashian looked cute in a high waisted pale skirt which she wore with a printed Myne blouse and finished off with black ankle boots. Chloe Sevigny was also seen at the Hugo Boss show in Berlin, wearing shorts and a blazer, I love the lilac floral pin she added to make the look stand out.

Not much of a Triumph

Various Mumbai socialites were spotted at the Triumph Show wearing some glitzy outfits.

Twinkle Khanna wore a blue one-shoulder dress with plain black peeptoes, nothing to rave about. Soniya Mehra wore a metallic mini with socks and boots! Not a good look. At all. That really ruined what could have been an otherwise fun look seeing as she's done up her hair in milkmaid braids, but that dress really called for black tights, not socks.

Deepika Padukone surprised me by looking kind of good - the gold dress works well on her but I wish she would lose the red satin clutch! It does nothing for her. Amrita Arora was wearing a purple animal-print Dolce & Gabbana - it works well on her. She added some yummy pink Brian Atwoods to finish off the look; although the dress & shoes don't quite work together.

Michelle Obama in McQueen

The First Lady of the US, Michelle Obama recently hosted a state dinner for the Republic of China, and keeping with the whole theme (you know, how red is considered lucky in China?), she opted for this bright printed Alexander McQueen gown from the 2011 Resort collection. I love how bold and feisty it looks, I guess red really is lucky. (Oh, and the President looks rather dapper too).

Here & There

Camilla Belle was at the premiere of her new, interestingly titled movie "From Prada to Nada" wearing a sharp suit by Jason Wu, I'd normally complain about the midriff baring top but it's something totally new for Camilla and she kind of works it.

Whitney Port's outfit was fitting with her trademark mix style - she added animal print flats to her the citrus coloured top and skirt look and finished off with a simple ponytail.

Reese Witherspoon's all black outfit was nice but I wish she had worn different shoes - her feet are blending in with the carpet!
These YSLs would have worked with Reese's usual classic style, but I would have chosen these Nicholas Kirkwoods to be a little adventurous.

Casual done right

Got a little tired of all the party blogging (even though the award season has JUST began!) so thought of writing about something that decidedly does not involve gowns ;)

I loved Kate Bosworth's airy California look - makes me wanna run away from the chill! She wore a light denim dress with tan moccasins, casual yet good looking. Jessica Alba paired a checkered button down with flared denims and dark brown heels and Katie Holmes was spotted going to a meeting in a white shirt tucked into printed dark jeans, it's a fun look for sure.

Golden Globes - The Men

There was plenty of eye candy at the Golden Globes. Here are some of my faves.

Social Network star
and future Spider Man Andrew Garfield looked cute in an Emporio Armani one button tuxedo, Jake Gyllenhaal (avec facial hair) wore a Burberry suit along with bow tie. Social Newtork's Jesse Eisenberg wore a Gucci tuxedo, although I wonder what the deal with his hair is... James Franco stood tall in custom Gucci with a silk bow tie.

Robert Pattinson turned up in a navy coloured Gucci design, and even though he's sporting a dubiously dark shade of ginger on his hair, he managed to look very charming. Zac Efron without the swishy mane of hair is just not right, please Zac, fix it! He was wearing a navy Calvin Klein suit.

And finally, Ryan Gosling - swooooooon. No other words are needed (although I will tell you that he wore a classic cut Ferregamo tuxedo with a Hugo Boss bow tie).

Golden Globes - Misses

Sadly, there was some questionable fashion doing the rounds at the Golden Globes too.

Julianne Moore wore a bright pink
Lanvin gown with a puff shoulder sleeve - not flattering in the least! The dress itself did not look polished enough either and the gold choker she wore around her neck was half hidden under that monstrous sleeve. Kyra Sedgwick's canary yellow Pucci chiffon silk gown was nice and a welcome change in colour, but it seemed to swamp her delicate frame. Heidi Klum was just a hot mess - the printed Marc Jacobs dress wasn't exactly suited to such a high glamour event and her make up was so loud! It did not do her pretty face justice at all.

Tina Fey's navy velvet L'wren Scott gown just wasn't that great, the material made it look a little tacky and I just wish Tina would wear something colourful and bright once in a while! It would go perfectly with that smile of hers. Jennifer Love Hewitt's icy hued Ramona Keveza gown looked more like a wedding dress and the bust just looked bad!
