Alicia Keys was clad in an Azzedine Alaia dress at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards.

The full sleeved gown had a micro-print in a dark colour; it was simple and elegant without looking boring.

Her hair and make-up also contributed in making the look interesting.

Alicia Keys in Diane von Furstenburg - 2012 White House Correspondents' Dinner

Alicia Keys was, unfortunately, the worst-dressed at the this year's White House Correspondents' Dinner.

She totally missed the mark in a mustard Diane Von Furstenburg silk dress which she paired with black tights (that really didn't do well in front of the camera lights).

The belt, shoes, clutch (even if it is Valentino) - nothing worked.  The dress itself isn't bad, but when you're attending a formal event at the White House, you really need to put in some thought and effort.

Alicia Keys skipped a gown in favour of a fitted cocktail dress at the Grammys.

The Alexandre Vauthier dress is sleek and fierce; a quiff updo, a gold neck collar and PVC heels completed the look.
